Novotel Hua Hin Review

Novotel Hua Hin

After spending the week with friends at the Mountain Beach Retreat in Prachuap Khari Khan we decided to stop off at the Novotel Hua Hin. We’d heard that this particular hotel was great for kids and a stop off broke up our journey back to Rayong nicely.

Approaching the hotel you can see that it dominates the local skyline, along with a number of other large hotels dotted along the Cha Am coastline. To be honest the building itself looks a little dated but it’s V shape does maximise the amount of rooms that are sea facing. So I suppose there is some logic to the design of the hotel.

Inside the lobby was large, well decorated and designed so that the cooling sea breeze could pass right through the building. There were several areas of comfortable seating where guests could relax and perhaps enjoy a drink, whilst getting some quiet time.

Facilities

The facilities at the Novotel Hua Hin were what you would expect from a large chain hotel:

  • Pool with water slide
  • Pool Bar
  • Kids Club
  • Sports Bar
  • Beach side restaurant
  • Coffee Shop
  • Fully equipped Gym
  • Beautiful Grounds
  • Private Beach
  • VIP Loung
  • Spa & Massage

Our room was also well equipped and spacious with amazing panoramic views of the local coastline. Perhaps the only downside of the room was the hotel seems to have poor soundproofing. There was a baby in the next room and boy did we know about it, to be honest though I was more worried about our two waking everyone up.

Novotel Hua Hin – For Families

Where the Novotel Hua Hin really stood out was the service. The place is really geared towards families and there are kids running around everywhere enjoying themselves. The staff really made the children feel welcome at every opportunity and it made a huge difference to our stay there.

Deserving of a special mention is the relationship manager at the hotel – Mr Bunty. Upon arrival Mr. Bunty approached us and welcomed us to the Novotel Hua Hin. During our brief conversation he learned that tomorrow was our son’s birthday and immediately rushed down to the kitchen to order a complimentary birthday cake.

The Pool

The pool at the hotel was surrounded by comfortable sun loungers with several secluded gazebo’s at the end closest to the beach. It was designed in such a way that one of the pool the was quiet and free of smaller children, so that guests with older/no children could relax in peace. The shallow end of the pool had a swim up bar and a large water slide. Perfect for children, and parents wishing to keep an eye on their unruly children. We chose the Novotel Hua Hin based on the fact it had a water slide and we were not disappointed.

Novotel Hua Hin Kids – Club

Another highlight for children was the kids club, situated adjacent to the pool. Inside was divided into two main areas, one area being for younger children, the other for older children. The first area consisted of a large ball pool and soft play area, arts and crafts area and a room stocked with toys. The latter was made up of an arcade and numerous pods where children could go and play PS4. In addition to this, there was a cinema room where children could watch a movie on a large screen from the comfort of giant bean bags.

Novotel Hua Hin – Dining

Sadly we didn’t get to experience the beach side restaurant, opting instead to eat out at the nearby Platoo Restaurant for our evening meal.

Breakfast

The Breakfast buffet was plentiful, serving up western breakfast favourites and Thai food. There was a make your own omelette, stand as well as fresh juices, coffee and tea. The only thing I was disappointed with were the frankfurters instead of a proper breakfast sausage, the kids loved them though.

Remember the birthday cake? While I was happily grazing at the buffet I felt a tap on my shoulder. Upon turning around there was the ever smiling Mr. Bunty, who arranged for us to meet him at the VIP area at 11am. Once there we were presented with the most amazing cake accompanied by several staff sing happy birthday. Really above and beyond our expectations.

Overall

There are certain things that the Novotel Hua Hin cannot control; the building itself is showing a little bit of age in places. However, the hotel staff more than make up for that with their above and beyond attitude to service.

With great service and brilliant facilities for kids, we’ll be visiting again for sure! Check Availability & Book Now
